Chris Evans... what on earth was the BBC thinking?
19/01/2010
What's happened to our breakfast time radio? asks one MT Online reader. So what do YOU think of Terry Wogan's replacement?
Although I listen to the radio regularly I have no particular loyalty to any station or presenter; I switch from Radio 4 to Radio 2 to LBC and so on quite frequently. Consequently despite listening to Terry Wogan on occasions I am not tearing out my last few remaining hairs at his departure, but replacing him with Chris Evans ...... what on earth was the BBC thinking?
I can understand the reasoning that if you can't replace him with a similar 'style' you get someone completely different but not Chris Evans, please, he is appalling. I have been told he was very popular playing the latest loud music and shouting to schoolchildren and teenagers - I believe he should have stuck to that; I do not think he is what Radio 2 listeners want, I certainly don't.
I have tried to be fair and listened to his show a few times but no more, when I want 'easy listening' I now tune into Magic FM.

As yet, I am not enjoying Chris Evans. I try, then I have to turn the radio off because he seems to be continually SHOUTING. Why can't he talk to us.
Sarah Kennedy manages to get her messages across without shouting, as did Terry Wogan. Is Chris just not able to talk normally.
I miss Sarah Kennedy (a lot) not continueing until 7.30am
Sincerely

Well readers, what is YOUR opinion of Radio 2's new breakfast time presenter. And are older listeners well served by radio these days...
or not?
